During the first two months of operations, 172 individual consultations and 30 interpretations have been provided by the One Stop Shop (Vienas pieturas aģentūra – VPA). The VPA`s services include face-to-face and online individual consultations in Latvian, English and Russian, as well as the assistance of an interpreter when needed. So far through the individual consultations citizens from Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, Belarus and many more countries have been served. The most common topics of consultations have been related to obtaining information about residence permit and citizenship, family reunification, employment opportunities and the availability of Latvian language courses.
The project implementation process between the Ministry of Culture and the Society Integration Foundation is still ongoing. When it will be finalized, the service package will be expanded by the availability to book a consultation with a psychologist and a psychotherapist, as well as there will be a possibility to provide written translations and, to a greater extent, oral translations. Currently, the One Stop Shop provides oral translations in some rare languages, such as Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Tajik, Turkish and Azeri.
The Society Integration Fund continues to build a network of regional One Stop Shop branches in Latvian cities. In cooperation with other municipalities there is a plan to open four regional branches – Daugavpils, Liepāja, Jelgava and Valmiera. First to open will be the branch in Liepāja, gradually the same will be done in other cities mentioned above.
