Emergency medical aid
Is calling an ambulance a paid service?
Emergency medical care is available in Latvia. To call an ambulance, call 113 or 112.
Third-country nationals who have a temporary residence permit in Latvia must pay the costs of emergency medical treatment. If you have a health insurance policy, you may be able to recover the costs, depending on the terms of the policy. Exceptions are citizens of Ukraine and pensioners of the Russian Federation, who can receive emergency medical care free of charge. We recommend that you carry a health insurance policy, as you may need it in case of an emergency.
