Integration and Inclusion Agency: Supporting Newcomers in Latvia

As of January 1, the Society Integration Foundation (SIF) continues operating the Integration and Inclusion Agency for Newcomers in Latvia (Agency) — a national-level support center providing coordinated, timely, and individualized assistance to third-country nationals and recipients of international protection. The Agency’s goal is to make newcomers’ first steps in Latvia easier by offering practical, legal, psychological, and informational support in one place, fostering successful integration into Latvian society. The project will run until the end of 2029.

The Agency provides support to individuals who legally reside in Latvia and are in the initial integration phase (up to 5 years after arrival) — third-country nationals, refugees, persons with alternative status, and asylum seekers.

As a structural unit of SIF, the Agency also holds the official status of a sustainable national-level coordinating institution, delivering quality information and support across Latvia. Under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) project approved at the end of 2025, the Agency will strengthen its branches in Riga, Daugavpils, and Liepāja, as well as provide remote and outreach services in regions to increase flexibility and accessibility.

The Agency offers:

  • Consultations on practical integration issues
  • Development and implementation of individual socio-economic inclusion plans
  • Oral and written translation services
  • Psychological support and consultations with a psychologist
  • Legal assistance and consultations with a lawyer

From January 5, 2026, in-person consultations are available at Agency branches:

Branch operations follow the principle “from support to belonging”, ensuring a personalized approach — from practical orientation to in-depth consultations on employment, education, language learning, and community involvement.

Up-to-date information on migration issues and practical tips for newcomers is available at www.livelatvia.lv, where you can find useful guidance on starting life in Latvia.

Implementation of Integration and Inclusion Agency services is ensured within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund project implemented by the Society Integration Foundation (Contract No. PMIF/13.1./2025/1/01). Funding of EUR 2,440,474.00 is allocated from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund – EUR 1,830,355.50 (75%) and the Latvian state budget – EUR 610,118.50 (25%).
