A Step Closer to Latvia: Courses and Activities for Ukrainian Civilians

The Society Integration Foundation (SIF) has approved the results of the first open project call under the competition “Cultural Orientation Courses and Integration Activities for Ukrainian Civilians.” A total of 31 project applications have been approved. The aim of the approved project activities is to ensure the availability of cultural orientation courses and events that promote cooperation between Ukrainian civilians and Latvian society in all regions of Latvia.
The supported projects include a variety of activities across the territory of Latvia, such as:
cultural orientation courses, including Latvian language, history, and cultural education,
summer camps for children and youth,
activities promoting psychological well-being for children and youth,
various workshops and creative sessions,
joint board game and cultural evenings,
excursions to museums and cultural sites,
digital literacy training sessions.
A total of 48 project applications were submitted for the requested program funding amounting to EUR 3,693,654.98. The applications were evaluated based on administrative, eligibility, and quality assessment criteria. Of those, 31 projects were approved with a total requested funding of EUR 2,404,429.00, which is also the total program budget available for the 2025 competition according to the call guidelines.
The project applications were evaluated for eligibility and quality by a commission consisting of one representative each from the Ministry of Welfare or a related agency, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development or a related agency, the Ministry of Education and Science or a related agency, the Ministry of Culture or a related agency, and four representatives delegated by the Council for Implementation of the Cooperation Memorandum between Non-Governmental Organizations and the Cabinet of Ministers. A representative of the Foundation also participates in the commission and leads its work but does not take part in the evaluation or voting regarding eligibility and quality criteria.

Services of the Integration and Inclusion Agency are provided by the Society Integration Foundation within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund’s project (Agreement No. PMIF/13.1./2022/1/01). The funding has been allocated by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (75%) and Latvian State budget (25%).
