A charity campaign calls on the public to prepare Christmas gifts for children seeking asylum

For the Ninth Year in a Row, the Society Integration Foundation Invites People to Bring Joy to Children from Asylum-Seeking Families in Latvia with Christmas Gifts
This Christmas season, for the ninth year in a row, the Society Integration Foundation (SIF) invites everyone to bring joy to children growing up in asylum-seeking families in Latvia by preparing Christmas gifts. This year, the goal is to collect 100 gifts for children from various countries, including Afghanistan, Belarus, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Nigeria, Congo, and others.
The charity campaign runs until December 13, 2024, and everyone is welcome to participate — residents of Latvia, companies, NGOs, as well as public institutions and local governments. The children will especially enjoy gifts such as games, books, toys, dolls, pencils and markers, sweets, and sports accessories.
We kindly ask that you label each gift with the intended age of the child. The gifts will be handed out by Santa Claus at a special holiday event for the children. The goal of the campaign is to delight 100 children, most of whom have already started attending school in Latvia. Participants are welcome to wrap the gifts themselves or leave them unwrapped for our “Christmas elves” to take care of.
The campaign “A Gift for a Child Seeking Asylum” is an opportunity to help children who were forced to leave their homes and find themselves in a foreign place. These children often experience sadness and longing for home, so a thoughtful gift can make their holidays brighter and more joyful. Even a small gesture — sweets, toys, or other presents — can bring warmth and a smile to their faces. Together, we create a Christmas miracle and share love with those who need it most.
